AEH was founded in 1996 as a limited liability company (GmbH) as a spin-off of the ETH Technopark in Zurich. At the time, the FCOS guideline on the involvement of occupational physicians and other occupational safety experts (ASA) had just been introduced, changing the field of safety, while AEH already had the vision of making a relevant contribution to the preservation and promotion of health, motivation and productivity in companies from a single source (AEH). During the first years, AEH was able to participate in shaping the new area of intercompany ASA solutions and experienced rapid expansion. In order to cover the broad needs and improve customer proximity, the first expansion took place in 1998 and in 1999 the first medical centre was opened at St. Jakobstrasse in Zurich. During the St. Jakob period, the first occupational medicine centre in Zurich was established and AEH became a relevant service provider for insurance medicine assessments. Thanks to its success, various changes were introduced in 2005. AEH was thus transformed into a public limited company (AG) and moved to Militärstrasse, today’s headquarters, and an office was opened in Berne. In the next phase, AEH was able to establish case management and open a branch in Lausanne. After the long growth period, a turbulent 2017 followed, leading to a lightly revised strategy and a new look.
